George Davies is currently senior advisor and director in Hatch Management Consulting where he provides expert advice to major clients in structuring public private partnerships and investment in infrastructure, including generation and transmission, transit, highways and water. He is also active in providing advice to both utilities and generation companies in long term power purchase agreements. He has done extensive work on aboriginal economic development issues in the resources sector and is currently working with aboriginal groups to develop renewable energy projects structured to provide maximum economic and financial benefits to aboriginal sponsors. He has also worked on resource sector policies and programmes to benefit aboriginal groups.
He has held a wide variety of senior management positions in both the public and private sectors. Most recently, he was President of Acres Management Consulting, a professional services firm that has been active in electricity restructuring and telecommunications planning in Ontario and elsewhere, and has been assisting investors in the purchase and sale of utility assets. He has been President and CEO of Hagler Bailly Canada and Senior Vice President of PHB Hagler Bailly (US), an international management and economic consulting firm that was responsible for advising the Ontario Government on electricity restructuring.
George has held Deputy Minister positions for the Government of Ontario, first with Energy and subsequently with Transportation, and was a member of the Board of Directors at Ontario Hydro and Suncor, and Chairman of the Board of the Ontario Energy Corporation, and of the Ontario Transportation Capital Corporation. He is a former member of the Board of Governors of Lakehead University, and is past Chair of the North South Institute, Canada’s leading think tank on international economic development.
